Teaching through meaningful experiences and reflection

The Zion Discovery Center Campus (also known as Applecross Station) serves as the east gateway for adventure into Zion National Park, and a point of departure for those headed to nearby Bryce Canyon National Park. The project is a public/private partnership that includes the National Park Service,  Zion Forever (non-profit partner), and the Zion Mountain Local Service District, a public utility that was formed in order to provide sustainably sourced and reclaimed water to the campus and its related projects. 

The project is comprised of a Visitor Center; office; EV shuttle dispatch, pick-up, and drop-off; support services; and a number of important outdoor amenities. As this location receives around 5,000 daily visitors during peak season, the campus is sensitively designed for multi-modal transportation. Thoughtful exhibits and activities are located within and on the western edge of the parking pathways to and from the Visitor Center and EV shuttle stops. Collectively, these site features are part of an "Experience Corridor" that extends the Visitor Center into the landscape. Programming will feature interpretive exhibits, Ranger talks, and docent-led activities.
