collect and connect to savor food as a wealth of relationships

THE MERC • WOOD RIVER MERCANTILE

Gathering together to celebrate community through food

The Wood River Mercantile, affectionately called the Merc, is a small-town general store and farm-to-fork restaurant located in Fort Klamath, Oregon. This location is at the foot of Crater Lake National Park, and just 45 minutes north of its sister project, Watershed Row, in Klamath Falls. The two projects work together with Watershed creating the goods (both fresh foods and country-style preserves) that are sold at the Merc. Indoor dining is nestled around a hearth in the winter months, and an outdoor area sits just north of a mature stand of trees for summer use.

The Merc's commercial kitchen utilizes domestic well water and is surrounded by its own food producing landscape. These gardens are irrigated by rainwater as well as greywater that is generated and treated onsite. Greywater and blackwater are treated on-site through a septic pretreatment system and drainage field as there is no municipal sewer service in this rural locale.
