The Sprague Branch of the Salt Lake City Public Library System was remodeled in 2021 after experiencing severe flood damage from nearby Parleys Creek. The modernized two-story historic building was originally constructed in 1928, and in 1935 the American Library Association dubbed the branch the “Most Beautiful Branch Library in America”. More recently, the re-crafted building was included in the ALA’s prestigious 2021 American Library Design Showcase.
The renovated building provides contemporary environments to work, play, explore, and create within the carefully modernized, community-oriented facility. New spaces allow the building to function as a 21st century library, complete with a large maker space, dedicated children’s area, and plentiful study spaces, as well as a large community space.
