Q&A with Jaden

Tell us something about your job you are very passionate about.

I love the diversity of tasks and opportunities to try new things, there is something different to solve each day - whether it’s programming an adaptive recreation center or learning how an escalator works, it’s affirming to me that I chose the correct career path.

Tell us something about your life that you are passionate about?

Travel, even if it’s somewhere close, I love learning new things, seeing new places, and being open to trying new experiences.

What is your favorite quote or mantra that keeps you motivated?

“Even bad coffee is better than no coffee at all.”

- David Lynch (completely misattributed, but the sentiment still stands)

What is your favorite hobby?

Skiing, I love all things outdoors but skiing takes the cake. Having been on the slopes since I was four there are few things that bring me as much joy riding down a mountain on a couple of sticks.

What path would you have taken if you didn't choose architecture?

An adjacent field or something that blends technical and artistic aspects - interior or landscape design, naval architecture, or industrial design.

If I told you that you get to take the day off work tomorrow, how would you spend it?

I would find a way to get outside, bike, hike, ski, camping, whatever...and I’ll try to get a friend to join!

What’s your favorite thing to eat?

Chè Ba Màu – A traditional Vietnamese dessert ‘soup’ that translates to “dessert, three colors” made with mung bean, red bean, pandan, and coconut milk colorfully layered in a glass. Sweet but not too sweet, I’m always on the lookout for restaurants that serve it.

What’s your favorite season?

Winter. Winter has snow. You can ski on snow. (please refer to question 6)
